Receiving Grapes the Easy Way!

Still Doing Harvest the Hard Way?

'The easiest and most efficient way to process fruit in lots smaller than a gondola trailer is probably the venerable 1/2 ton plastic bin. These are far superior to the old school "Welch's Bins" in that they are structurally sound when rotated. Don't know what a "Welch's Bin" is you say? GREAT! This will be easy.

When the grapes come up to the crush pad, you can take them a bin at a time straight to your Carlsen 6' Horizontal Receiving Hopper.
Dump and run with your half- ton bins and a rotating head forklift.

The fun in this is not only the time you save by not waiting on the person with the rake to finish the bin the hard way. You see, this hopper is gentle and delivers a better quality of fruit from the destemmer.

Supplying a constant, metered feed of fruit to the destemmer, sorter, etc. enables you to find the perfect fruit flow rate for optimum quality.

Height adjustable means that it will feed whole cluster to press, fermented reds to press (!), or feed the destemmer or sorting table.

Gentle? Yes. Its has this kind of auger.

NOT this kind.

Carlsen only builds a certain number of these a year.

You may want to put yourself on the list for 2020.

The Most Important Step in Winemaking?

The Last Part of the Process That Can Go Horribly Wrong....

....which could involve costly and injurious hits to your reputation, labor and materials expenses; i.e.: your bottom line is packaging.

Using the wrong closure can be a disaster for your wine and your winery; Let alone your career.

But let's think positive! Holy cow was that a negative start to a message. What's with that intro?

I'm just trying to say that I'm intimate enough with the processes that Amorim uses to select, test, classify, test, treat, test, process, test, analyze, test, classify, and test their (wait- did I say "test"?) their cork that you can rest assured that our normal lots of cork- in any visual grade/ price point are on par with Amorim's rank in the industry.

Still the largest producer of cork on the planet, Amorim continues to lead the rest of the cork industry along the relentless pursuit of quality and consistency. To this point, Amorim sets the bar and then raises it.

From our high- end, guaranteed ND tech closures to the most affordable and functional budget closure on the market, namely: Neutrocork, we have you covered.
The Most Important Step in Winemaking?

Clear Spirits and Natural Cork?

Just About the Only 100% Vertical Manufacturer of Stock and Custom Bartops, Amorim Has Set the Bar Again.

Amorim never ceases to amaze me. For oh, I dunno- the entire time I have known anyone who distills anything, I "knew" that distillers avoided cork on their clear spirits to avoid discoloration. Well, add that idea to the busted myth list because we now have White Top corks just for custom bartops which are headed to a bottle of clear alcohol. Go figure.

Amorim is 100% vertical in their bartop manufacturing process and controls every step of making your bartops. Please check out our bartops page here for more interesting info and some eye candy designed just for bartops customers.

The Time Will Come for Many Wineries When Handling Destemmed Grapes with Bins and a Forklift Is Just Too Much to Do.

When a winery is under a certain number of cases or tons, using gravity and elbow grease can get the job done well enough. If moving must is something you would like to do with the help of some automation, please consider this:

The time will come for many wineries when handling destemmed grapes with bins and a forklift is just too much to do.
Carlsen & Associates Must Pumping System
Enotools is your service and sales agency for the Carlsen Must Pumping System.

Since 2004, Enotools has been advising all customers to delay purchase of a must pumping system until the opportunity to buy a really, really good must pumping system arises. The logic is simple. Why waste money on something that hurts the quality of the wine and does only one job?

Why not buy a system which is comparable in price to others out there, but multi- purpose on one hand- and BETTER for this purpose than any other?

Our must pumping system is comprised of two critical components for gentle, yet efficient and capable must transfer:
1. The "do all" Waukesha 130.
2. The Carlsen Must Sump.

About the Waukesha 130:
Wow.
This 3" inlet/ outlet pump starts with a Waukesha Positive Displacement Pump Head. The spinny- things we call rotors are not "lobes" like in an imitation.
This is a Waukesha.

The time will come for many wineries when handling destemmed grapes with bins and a forklift is just too much to do.
This pump can earn its keep year 'round in the winery doing transfers, bottling, filtration (not D.E.), racking, pumpovers, etc. while other must pumps enjoy the shade under the destemmer after harvest.
The time will come for many wineries when handling destemmed grapes with bins and a forklift is just too much to do.
Note the model pictured above is well balanced on the domestically manufactured cart complete with on- board variable speed drive and remote control.

The next part:

The Carlsen Must Sump:

Made at Carlsen, this little beauty is coupled to the Waukesha 130 to make your must pumping dreams come true. At 1/3 the cost of the Waukesha, this is where the value in our system really comes through. Other must pumping systems are one piece, one purpose.

The time will come for many wineries when handling destemmed grapes with bins and a forklift is just too much to do.
The conspicuously high quality construction of this unit does nothing to conceal the fact it moves grapes and juice unharmed. It's job is to present the grapes to the column of vacuum created by the suction of the Waukesha. This sump merely presents the fruit to the pump; Which is always running just slightly faster than the sump.

Enjoy the piece of mind that comes from owning the best.

The only thing gentler than this when moving must is a bucket.

Harvest will be here before you know it.

Topping Barrels Is a SNAP!

Got Air?

In this day and age, dragging a big pump and heavy hoses around to top barrels is not necessary when you can do it with less weight, less trouble, less time, and for less money than you think.

Compressed Air- driven pumps are easy on the budget, variable speed, and remote stop- start.
The setup you see here is the Barrel Topping System we offer from Carlsen.

Using an air- powered pump is potentially safer around certain products. And they come in all sizes from 10 GPM to 200.

Still Using Lugs?

Make It Easy to Make Better Wine and Why Some Augers Are JUNK!!!

Still Using Lugs?

By bringing in grapes in lugs, you can have a bit of control over what gets dumped on the sorting table, into the destemmer, or into the press.

In the case of a destemmer, you need to supply a constant, metered feed of fruit to be able to dial in that perfect speed on the destemmer control.
Dumping directly from lugs, you go from empty to choked to perfect to empty again every time you reach for a lug.

If you pick lugs and dump them into 1/2 ton bins in the field, you can utilize this hopper to feed whatever the fruit goes into next.

Uses for this hopper:

1. Whole cluster- straight to the press, or sorted into another bin for dumping and feeding to press.

2. Grapes to be destemmed (crush optional). Destem into bins to feed into the press or into the fermentor. Or ferment in the bins.

3. Fermented reds into the press by way of dumping bins into the press.

And if you are a crush and pump facility, you needed this a long time ago.

Why the Carlsen Horizontal Receiving Hopper is better:

1. Height Adjustable
2. Has the correct type of auger so it's gentle and efficient.

Still Using Lugs?
A good auger like this one from Carlsen has adequate diameter, smooth welds, a one- piece, floating shaft to gently move grapes.
Still Using Lugs?
A poorly designed auger is undersized, overgeared (notice the high- speed whip of the bunches as they blur) and is as inefficient as it is violent.
3. Fabrication is a thing best done by wine industry- specific companies like Carlsen.

4. Speed adjusts from 0-25 tons per hour to cater to your throughput.

5. Made in the USA
