Only the Beginning. The red lines point to 40+ years of dents, dings, and general boogers from use as a truck. This includes bulges and 16 holes from the ladder rack it once wore during it's life in California.

After 1st lap around the car with 80- grit on a DA sander.

A great sight to behold as it rolls home for the first time. Zoe was very supportive and seemed happy to see it.

One entire weekend spent smoothing the roof!

I call this one Freddy, er Fender. Further sanding revealed a previous body shop visit where they "fixed" a dent and then painted the car babycrap harvest yellow with all of the chrome and trim still on the car.

This spot is the view I am most used to on the car. Over three years, I re- sanded, refilled, and re- smoothed this area about 14 times. There was a dent there that was pulled. It required removal of old Bondo and completely fresh start by the time it was done. The colors are differnt layers of primer, icing, and thin layers of the car's two previous paint colors hiding in subtle imperfections. Without a magnet, it is impossible to see now.

Looked flat. Wasn't Living proof of why "icing" a panel that is visually perfect is necessary.

283 out. 1976 350 w/ dish pistons, 305 H.O. heads, Lunati cam, Edelbrock Carb & Intake in.

That's not snow. That is probably $40.00 worth of primer on the floor after final sanding wet with 400 then 600 grit long blocks.

I really hate harvest yellow now.

Got lucky on the sanding. Looks very straight. And those old wheels take a polish like a champ.

New thermostats fail to open? Accidently installed a 195 degree thermostat. It doesn't do that with the proper 180 in it.

Nothing wrong with a little trim- One part of this project was removing yellow paint from and polishing every piece of chrome on the car. And there was a pile of it. This is just prior to the 7 - hour sprint last weekend getting the fenders, grill and front bumper put on.

No idea who added the door pouch? The inside door panels look good in person. This is after painting the door edges body color and the top interior of the door black to match the color change over from blue.

Still missing windshield/ rear window chrome. Opted for a rough, bedliner finish in the bed. It looks great with the black interior.

Dirty Already. Ugh. Still missing Inside of tailgate, since the wood decal is late.

Next comes the wood decal, trim, and Chevy script. Then the inside of the tailgate can go back on.

Tailgate decal and trim installed! Hinshaw sells good stuff.
